Native to the warmer waters of the Indian and Pacific oceans, including the Great Barrier Reef and the Red Sea, anemonefish often live at the bottom of shallow waters in reefs and lagoons. Believe it or not, there are thirty different subspecies of anemonefish!
History: Want to know a wild fact - Anemonefish are what’s known as a “sequential hermaphrodite,” which means that when they’re born, their gender is male, but when they mature they become females. Wilder still, if a female is removed from her group for any reason, one of the males will become a female to allow for a continual production of offspring.
